The Story

Meet Rohit and Mayur, who envisioned this dream in Feb 2022 when they met each other the very first time. Strange, isn’t it? The structure you see today is a result of good luck, serendipity and lots of hard work.

Early 2022, in a quaint little village called Kasar Devi, a mystical retreat set in the heart of the majestic Himalayas in Almora district of Uttarakhand. Two random individuals Mayur and Rohit found themselves drawn together by their shared sense of adventure and mighty love for the Himalayas. Both of us yearned for something more, something extraordinary. Little did we know, our life was about to take an unexpected turn that would lead us on a remarkable journey.

 

One sunny afternoon, as Mayur visited the café run by Rohit, both began fantasizing about creating a space where people could escape the chaos of the city and embrace nature's tranquillity. Our dream was to build a mountain homestay, a place where travellers could experience the beauty and serenity of the mountains, while enjoying the comfort of a warm and welcoming environment with absolute peace around them.

 

Energized by the shared vision, we embarked on a quest to make our dream a reality. With limited funds and sheer determination, we scoured the village for an ideal location to build our mountain retreat. After weeks of exploration and help from our well wisher/local expert whom we lovingly call Mukesh mama, we discovered a hidden gem, a piece of land in the mountain valley, surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful scenery.

 

Undeterred by the challenges that lay ahead, we worked tirelessly, combining our strengths to construct the homestay from scratch. We brought the blueprint to life, designing cozy cottages called ‘The Nest’ made from locally sourced timber and natural stone. The homestay began to take shape, capturing the essence of our shared dream. As word spread through the village, local people contributed their talents by helping to create unique pieces of artworks that adorn the homestay. Our friendly landlord Mr. Pappu, a skilled gardener, transformed the surrounding area into a breathtaking landscape, with blooming flowerbeds and winding pathways leading to secluded spots for relaxation.

 

Finally, after all the hard work it was on 27th August 2023, that our dream ‘The Hammock Inn’ was a reality and it was inaugurated. The vision of two unrelated individuals to provide an abode for people to immerse themselves in the beauty of majestic mountains, find solace and reconnect with themselves with nature had become true.
